As manufacturers around the world adapt to environmental challenges and market expectations for a cleaner, greener business environment, Europe is showing how it should be done. Italian outdoor furniture company Nardi is one example of a manufacturer seriously tackling this brave new world with massive investments in production, processes and packaging.
Included in this investment are new energy-saving hybrid injection moulding machines using an adiabatic system, leading to zero water consumption and a significant reduction in electricity consumption. That electricity is, in turn, 100% sourced from hydroelectric power stations. Nardi's administration, sales and warehousing areas depend on the massive banks of roof-mounted solar panels for their power.
The products themselves are manufactured using re-introduced polypropylene scrap and waste from processing, which in turn is recyclable, and Oeko-Tex standard 100-certified synthetic fabrics.
Nardi product packaging uses cardboard and LDPE, made from recycled materials with Green Dot Eco Certification, as proof of compliance. Recommendations for the appropriate disposal of packaging is included each product box.
