Following the completion of another successful furniture fit-out for the Mura Kosker community centre on Thursday Island, it's worth reflecting on some of the particular challenges that servicing Queensland's remote communities with commercial and office furniture brings.
Organisation, careful planning and logistical management are essential to deliver a successful outcome for projects where the roads are frequently closed by heavy rain. The freight component alone to these remote locations often poses a particular challenge, with transport via ship sometimes being the only alternative. Newart have completed several fit-outs on Thursday Island, where furniture shipped in containers is required to comply with rigorous Australian Border Force and biosecurity regulations - a process which demands significant forward planning, particularly where delivery needs to dovetail with both construction and customer move-in timelines.
Installation and assembly for remote projects also involves a greater level of management and complexity. When installation for these larger remote projects is scheduled to take several days to complete, our installation team will fly into the location, where accommodation and the hire of local delivery transport will have been organised by the project team leader.
We appreciate the work that our remote customers put into assisting us with these frequently complex projects. It's this high standard of teamwork and commitment that ensures a smooth process and a great outcome.
